14 - 16 Oct 2016
The open homes weekend is all about providing inspiring examples of homes, both old and new, (and other projects) that have reduced their environmental impact, and renewable energy projects that are contributing to a low carbon economy.
Please note that this event has now finished.
From the traditional to the unconventional, visit inspiring homes & projects in Totnes and the surrounding area which are at different stages on the journey to reducing their energy bills and environmental impact. There will be free bus tours from Totnes to some of the homes which are further afield.
This year homes will be open from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Some are opening again by popular demand, including the Cob House in Dartington, the Landmatters Permaculture Project, and a variety of refurbished properties. There are also several projects new to the Open Eco-Homes weekend, including a newly built eco-home in Totnes, and the Totnes weir hydroelectric scheme.
It is a great opportunity to find out from the householders, builders and designers about the challenges, successes and failures and about different materials and technologies, including natural building materials and a variety of renewable energy options.
